
COVID 19 FOOD EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROGRAM IN RWERU MODEL VILLAGE
Introduction of the organization
Save Generations Organization (SGO), is a Rwandan Development Non-Government Organization (NGO) dedicated to promote and advocate for child and women’s rights in order to prepare, empower and equip the future generations. Save Generations Organization has been established in 2015and is registered at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB)with legal personality number 008/ RGB /NGO/2016, issued in 2016.

Reason for intervention.
Since April 2020, the whole world was affected by COVID 19 pandemic, based on hands on collaboration between Bugesera district and save generation organization and according to the needs assessment report following our previous activity we conducted in the Rweru IDP modal village on covid19 prevention,

citizens of the above modal village appreciated Save Generations Organization for the support of covid19 protective materials given to them but also expressed other different issues they face including food shortage, unemployment and many others, Save Generations Organization in partnership with AIDs HealthCare Foundation AHF will provide food packages to low income families who were severely affected by Covid 19.

General objective of the activity.
The activity is aiming at conducting a food emergence response program by providing emergence food to decrease the shortage of food and hanger hence fighting malnutrition diseases to young children. The activity also aims at providing basic scholastic materials to school girls and boys as they prepare to return back to school.
Our intervention
Save Generations Organization in partnership with AIDs HealthCare Foundation AHF will provide food packages which will include posho, rice, flour to about 100 households with low incomes and support. We will also provide basic scholastic materials including books, pens and soaps for proper hygiene as some have no support to afford a bar of soap.


Results
100 households provided with food for support during this period where it is not easy for them to get food and also 94 students provided with basic scholastic materials like books and pens to help them as they return back to school.
Target group.
The activity targeted 100 selected households with the lower income and support than others; the above households include elder people, youth and young children. The activity also has a target 94 school girls and boys who are preparing to return back to school.

Geographical scope of the activity.
Bugesera district found in the Eastern province of Rwanda with 15 sectors and a total population of over 361,914 people including our geographical target Rweru sector
The activity will take place in Bugesera district, Rweru sector, Batima cell, in Mbuga nzeri village and specifically in Rweru IDP Modal village.
